Sidcot – 1930s-Pattern Style Flight Suit Auckland Museum U269
Commission for Auckland Museum New Zealand.

100% Reverse Engineered Pattern of Original Garment
Beyond the heavy degradation and ‘crispiness’, all a result of the extensive years in display, [28 years], Prentice’s suit shows minimal signs of wear. This, in part, will be due to this garment being worn with additional layers next to the skin, reducing contact and subsequent sweat-wear signs. In fact, the only real signs of wear are from a transfer of the cockpit seating surface to the back of the garment. Due to Prentice’s WWII stationing in the Pacific, the only times this Sidcot would have been worn would likely have been during training in the colder climates of New Zealand and Canada.
